99TH RITTENHOUSE SQUARE FLOWER MARKET FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITIES

RITTENHOUSE SQUARE, PHILADELPHIA— The 99th annual Rittenhouse Square Flower Market for Children’s Charities kicks off an exciting Mother’s Day weekend in Rittenhouse Square on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 featuring continuous entertainment for all ages. Directly proceeding the May 10-12 Pennsylvania Guild Fine Craft Fair, a selection of beautiful indoor/outdoor plants, savory herbs, hand-made crafts and collectibles will be available for purchase at the Flower Market. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to purchase last minute Mother’s Day gifts! The rain or shine Flower Market is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days; and food, including the Market’s signature lemon sticks, will be available.

New to this year’s Market, advance sale of plants will be available at a discount. Online pre-sales commence Monday, April 22nd at www.rittenhousesquareflowermarket.org. Little Miss Rittenhouse posters designed by local artists will also be available for purchase; are an integral fundraiser for The Market’s beneficiary organizations. Esteemed 2013 beneficiaries include The Adoption Center of Delaware Valley The Arden Theatre Co. “Arden for All” Education Outreach program, Children’s Crisis Treatment Center and The Lighthouse. These well-deserving, non-profit organizations provide services to Philadelphia’s most vulnerable children.

The oldest continuously-held event in Rittenhouse Square, the Market spotlights these beneficiaries, who will be providing interactive activities for adults and children, while at the same time promoting their organizations and the projects for which they are raising funds.   This year, the Children’s Resource Center at the Flower Market [est., 2011] will continue, giving many other nonprofit organizations a chance to introduce themselves to the public.

“Every dollar raised at the Market goes directly to the kids, whose organizations are raising funds to expand adoption opportunities for children living in foster care, provide theatre access to underserved children, support families coping with the impact of behavioral health issues and traumatic events; and enrich recreational programs for inner-city children,” notes Barbara Pomerantz, RSFMCC President Emeritus.  Last year, the Flower Market distributed over $34,500 to its beneficiaries for their locally-based programs.

2013 major Sponsors include The Abstract Company, CitySpace, Coldwell Banker Preferred, Gorman Investment Group, Kurfiss Sotheby’s, OCF Realty and Sage My Life. For more information on the Flower Market and a schedule of events, visit www.rittenhousesquareflowermarket.org or email RSFMA@aol.com.
